Whether you’re a literature lover or history buff, the Bradford Area Public Library has something special in store for you. Two free programs slated for next week are going to light up imaginations and spark interesting dialogues between experts and the public.
Author Angela Enos will stop by for a visit at 7 p.m. Thursday. Enos will take questions and share insights from her writing journey. She will be particularly focused on her latest fiction release, ‘Under the Roof,’ a rorncom mystery released in November.
Enos, who currently lives near Harrisburg, is a former resident of Bradford. Her first book ‘The Weight is Over,’ is a nonfiction exploration of health, fitness and weight loss. Released in 2016, it is currently being revamped for a second edition.
History enthusiasts will enjoy the program ‘History Comes Alive: The Franklin Expedition’ planned for 6 p.m. May 17. The informative program will mark the 180th anniversary of the Franklin Expedition, the doomed Arctic voyage of the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror.
Former Bradford resident, Matthew Picklo, will guide attendees through the harrowing saga of the expedition’s mysterious fate. Picklo, a social studies teacher at Falk Laboratory School through the University of Pittsburgh, will base his presentation on the latest research and discoveries surrounding the expedition.
Picklo holds degrees in both music and history and a master’s degree in history education. His passion for teaching others will help illuminate this tragic piece of maritime history.
