BRMC, OGH announce May classes, support groups
During May, Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), Kaleida Health facilities, will offer a variety of classes and support groups designed to provide health education, encouragement and community connection.
Whether you are managing a newly diagnosed health condition, grieving the loss of a loved one or caring for a loved one, programs offer guidance and are open to the public.
The Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Workshop helps individuals take charge of their diabetes with expert guidance and support. The comprehensive program at OGH covers key aspects of diabetes self-care, including meal planning, medication management and lifestyle strategies. The workshop will take place in the OGH Education Center on the first floor from 6 to 8 p.m. May 7, 14 (diet-focused session) and 21. For more information or to register, call (716) 375-4127.
Those scheduled for total joint replacement surgery can join the Total Joint Care Class. This class provides an overview of the procedure, the recovery process and the rehabilitation needed. It is led by an experienced member of the outpatient rehabilitation team. This month, the class will be held 10 to 11 a.m. May 21 in the OGH Education Center on the first floor.

For those who are required to complete CPR training for licensure or work, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) classes are being offered to the community by the clinical education department.
May’s class will be held at BRMC from 9 a.m. to noon May 14 in the thirdfloor medical library. The cost to attend is $40. For more information or to register, call (716) 3756926.
At BRMC, individuals can connect with others dealing with a loss of a friend or loved one by attending the Grief Relief Support Group.
This group meets in the Community Room in the BRMC main lobby from 4 to 5 p.m. May 27. For more information, call (814) 362-8288.
Registration is not required, and the meeting is free and open to the public.
The Dementia Support Group for individuals caring for a loved one with dementia, led by Alzheimer’s Association member Mary Cukierski, provides a space to connect, share experiences and gain helpful resources. The group meets monthly at BRMC in the Pavilion Activities Room.
This month’s meeting will be held 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
