The mitten tree

Harmony Schneider, a preschool student at George G. Blaisdell Elementary School, tries to decide which pair of gloves she wants to pick from the mitten tree at Chapel Ridge. The residents and their families donated and made over 300 pair of mittens and gloves to be given to school children who either forget their mittens on a cold day or do not have a warm pair of their own. The kids visited the residents, had a snack while listening to a story of a woman who lived alone and knitted mittens for the school children she saw waiting at the bus stop with cold hands. Afterwards the kids were all given a chance to pick out a pair to take home.
