About Bill's Saw Shop

Bill’s Saw Shop has dealt in outdoor-power equipment and small engine sales and repairs since 1988.  The store is located between the town of Little Valley, NY and the city of Salamanca, NY in Cattaraugus County, quaintly situated in the beautiful rolling hills of the southwestern region of New York State.  Owner and “fearless leader,” Bill Crossfield, started logging in the 1970’s and after a short time, he thought it prudent to add the business to his enterprise.

Over the years, Bill has sold Sachs Dolmar, Shindaiwa and Husqvarna chain saws and power equipment.  He said their main product line for several years now, however, has been Husqvarna.  They also handle several other brands to supplement their lineup, stock thousands of parts and provide experienced service.

“We really are experts in chainsaws.  Some places only service what they sell.  We do our best to fix them all,” Bill stated.

“Our area is somewhat 'out in the sticks', but since our venture into the world of the Internet, we have done business in almost every state in the U.S.A.”

There is even a 3,500 foot air strip located behind Bill’s store property, and Bill said he remembers one time this 20-something woman flew in one day and landed at the air strip.  She proceeded to walk into the shop, purchased some saws and parts and then returned to her plane and flew off.  That scenario left quite the impression on Bill, seeing as how that sort of thing definitely does not happen every day in our little neck of the woods.

“When you do business with us, you're not talking to some operator working for a big company.  We are a small, close-knit group with a penchant for filling the needs of our customers in a friendly, professional way while delivering the best service and value possible.”

Bill says they even have many customers that will stop on in the shop just to say hello and grab a free cup of coffee out of the lounge.  There is a couple of retired gentlemen that stop in all the time to talk over a cup of coffee and just experience business the way it used to be.

Bill worked as a professional logger for more than twenty years and had owned the shop for a large chunk of that time.  He now oversees the day-to-day operations of the business, and helps out with various tasks in the store and shop.  His wife, Peggy, handles most of the bookwork.  Lee Sluga has been working with Bill for the majority of his over thirteen years in the outdoor power-equipment business.  He works the counter and handles most of the parts business, as well as some sales and shop jobs.

“We all have sawdust in our veins.” :)
