Phase I of the Bradford Main Street Streetscape Project is set to begin on Monday.

M and B Services LLC of Clarion will be mobilizing to Bradford and begin the project by sawcutting, installing all E&S measures, project surveying and removing trees.

Full construction will start the week of May 20 on the north side of Main Street, in front of the Hooker-Fulton building. Work being done during Phase I includes: new curb and sidewalk installation, installation of new light poles, fire hydrant replacements, ADA Ramp installation, decorative concrete installation, installation of traffic signal bases and asphalt repairs with milling. Construction on the north side of Main Street will take until Aug. 1. Beginning the week of Aug. 5 work will start on the south side of Main Street and will run through October.

“This project has been in the works for several years now and we are really excited to get started. We believe that giving Main Street a fresh, new look will help spur business development. It’s going to be great for our downtown historic district,” said Sarah Matzner, Main Street/Elm Street coordinator.

“Our merchants are just as excited as we are about the improvements being made and they will remain open through construction. We hope that the community will come downtown to check out the ongoing progress while continuing to support our local businesses.”

The project is being accomplished through funding from several sources including the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, Appalachian Regional Commission, City of Bradford, Community Development Block Grant Program, Philo & Sarah Blaisdell Foundation and Zippo Manufacturing Company.
