Distracted driving leads to one-vehicle crash in Liberty Township
LEWIS RUN — A Port Allegany man was involved in a one-vehicle crash on Sunday at 10:50 a.m. on Open Brook Road in McKean County, Liberty Township.
Lewis Run-based state police report that a vehicle driven by Dylan Baumgarner, 21, was traveling north on Open Brook Road, near its intersection with U.S. Route 6. Baumgarner was distracted and the vehicle traveled off the roadway, striking the guide rail. Police said it then struck a tree and came to a rest.
Police report Baumgarner was not injured, though the vehicle sustained disabling damage. Baumgarner was cited for failing to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
Mount Jewett man involved in one-vehicle crash in Lafayette Township
LEWIS RUN — A Mount Jewett man was cited following a crash on Friday at 12:30 a.m. on Route 59, Lafayette Township, McKean County.
Lewis Run-based state police report Chad Ginkel, 38, was traveling west on Route 59 in his Jeep, when the Jeep swerved to miss a bear crossing the roadway. The Jeep left the right side of the roadway, making initial contact with the ditch. Police said the vehicle traveled approximately 200 feet in the ditch before hitting an embankment on the north side of the roadway, where it rolled onto its roof before coming to a rest.
Police report Ginkel was wearing his seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. The Jeep sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Ginkel was cited for failing to give information and render aid due to leaving the scene of the accident, though he later returned.
Ulysses woman cited after Ulysses Township crash
COUDERSPORT — A Ulysses woman is facing a traffic citation after a one-vehicle crash on Aug. 1 at 11:47 a.m. on Fox Hill Road in Potter County, Ulysses Township.
Coudersport-based state police reported a sport utility vehicle driven by Cinnittia Shumack, 24, was traveling north on Fox Hill Road, when it down to better negotiate a left hand curve in the roadway and lost control. Police report the SUV went down an embankment, where it slid onto its side, coming to rest in the middle of an unnamed roadway.
Dawn Greiss, 35, also of Ulysses, and an unnamed juvenile passenger were also in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Driver and passengers were wearing appropriate safety equipment and minor injuries were suspected.
Shumack is facing charges due to driving without a license.
