The 10th annual Bavarian Fall Fest will be held in downtown St. Marys from Sept. 13-15. Craft and food vendors will officially open at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Admission to the festival is free and don’t worry about parking, because the City of St. Marys will be offering free city-wide parking for the event.
Opening ceremonies will begin Friday at 6 p.m.
“The city recently restored the bell and hose tower at the fire department,” said Paula Weyant, co-chair of the Fall Fest Committee. At the opening ceremony, they will ring the bell this year.
Also during opening ceremonies, St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce will present the business of the year award, while the Fall Fest Committee will present a group with the year/community involvement award.
Families can enjoy the free Kids Zone on Saturday afternoon, which will include a variety of kid-friendly games and activities. A pancake breakfast is set for Sunday morning.
“This year will include all local entertainment,” said Weyant. Live music on the main stage will feature local favorites such as PF Flyer, Sleepwalker and The Ride.
Throughout the weekend, craft vendors will offer items such as handmade jewelry, wood crafts and children’s toys, while food vendors will be serving everything from beef on weck to chocolate covered bacon. In addition, a farmers’ market will be available Saturday, and many stores in St. Marys will join in on the festivities, offering sales throughout the weekend.
“The basket raffle is our main fundraiser and it’s comprised of donations from the community,” noted Weyant. “We usually have about 100 baskets, located in the chamber parking lot. Lots of great things to win.”
Proceeds from the basket raffle go back into funding the free entertainment and other activities provided during the three day celebration.
