SMETHPORT — An East Smethport man was arraigned Saturday on allegations that he cut a woman with a knife and slashed several tires outside a Smethport bar.

Magisterial District Judge William Todd’s office reported that Raymond A. Kelley, 40, of 18333 U.S. Route 6, is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor; harassment, a summary offense; and two counts of criminal mischief — one third-degree misdemeanor and one summary.

The alleged victim, 23-year-old Shawna J. Anderson of Smethport, was leaving the Corner Bar’s back entrance with two friends around 12:40 a.m. when Kelley allegedly pushed her to the ground and slashed her cheek with a knife, causing a small cut, according to Kane-based state police. Also in the parking lot, Kelley allegedly cut four tires on a truck belonging to Paul E. Raymond, 59, of Smethport; and two tires on a sport-utility vehicle owned by Michelle J. Williams, 27, of Smethport.

Kelley is being held in McKean County Jail in Smethport on $50,000 straight bail. His preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 16 before Todd.

" That right there is why I do NOT go out and drink. I personally don't drink at all.. but I would never go to a bar. I have already heard about this from one of the girls that was with her. They where very scared. It's sad that people go straight to violence like this. "
