McKeown among winners at BGC
The Bradford Gun Club hosted the seventh annual Fall Ironman Shoot on Sunday.
This unique event requires the participants to shoot at 25 skeet targets, 25 trap targets from the 23-yard line, 25 targets on the new 5-Stand course and 50 targets on the sporting clays course.
Claiming the Class A trophy with a score of 115 X 125 was Gary McKeown of Piffard, N.Y. McKeown shot 25 X 25 in skeet, 24 X 25 in trap, 18 X 25 in 5-Stand and 48 X 50 in sporting clays. Tied for the runner-up spot in Class A with scores of 109 X 125 were Roger Retzinger of Johnsonburg and Jason Morgan of Allegany, N.Y. Rich Brandon of Bradford and Guy Baughman of Warren tied for third place with a 107 X 125.
Top Class B shooters Mike Schuler of Bradford and Tim Herbstsommer of Honeoye Falls, N.Y., were tied with scores of 96 X 125. Class B runner-up spot saw four shooters tied with scores of 95 X 125. These shooters were Ken Schwarzel of Export, Al Morgan of Allegany, N.Y., Jack Kneidel of St. Marys and Thom Gebler of Ellicottville, N.Y. Class B third place was shared by Rich Roupe and Herm Glover, both from Bradford.
Leading Class C shooters with scores of 90 X 125 were Bruce Edgreen of Port Allegany, Fred Gainer of Bradford and Larry Stelitano of Pittsburgh. Howard Johnt of Akron, N.Y. and Ralph Challingsworth took Class C runner-up titles with 89 X 125. Third place in Class C was claimed by Ron Schmid of West Seneca, N.Y., and Bucky Clark of Bradford with 88 X 125.
Bill Keesler was all alone at the top of Class D with a 74 X 125. The runner-up spot was shared by Ron Brewster of Hamburg, N.Y., and Brian Daquilante of Ford City with scores of 73 X 125. The third place trophy in Class D went home with Brian Domon of Akron, N.Y., with a 72 X 125.

Skeet - 25 by Retzinger, McKeown and Lee; 24 by Ron Brandenburg of Pittsburgh; 23 by Brandon, Santo Dragone of St. Marys, Gernat, Jason Morgan and Herbstsommer
5-stand - 20 by Jason Morgan; 19 by Brandon; 18 by Brandenburg, McKeown, Lee and Retzinger
Sporting clays - 48 by McKeown; 47 by Wes Grabic of Kane; 46 by Guy Baughman
The Bradford Gun Club will hold turkey shoots on all Sundays during the month of November. These shoots will begin at 11 a.m. and will feature Bull’s eyes, Splatter Boards, Protection and Annie Oakleys. Turkeys, hams, steaks and pork will be given as prizes and the public is welcome.
The BGC is open for practice trap, skeet, 5-Stand and sporting clays shooting Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
