Summerfest and the Case Collector Appreciation Weekend will be joined by sweltering heat, as a heat wave is set to hit the area today through Sunday.

With temperatures reaching the mid-to-upper 90s, Bradford’s summer activities are to be under mostly clear skies with a chance of scattered thunderstorms, according to a Penn State Weather Communications representative.

The heat wave is a result of high pressure over the mid-Atlantic states pushing humid air into the northeast, creating the highest temperatures recorded so far this summer for the Bradford area, according to the representative.

To combat the high temperatures, people looking to participate in outdoor activities, including Summerfest and the Case Collector Appreciation Weekend, should stay hydrated, use sunscreen and wear weather appropriate clothing, the representative said.

For this area, the heat wave will last at least through Saturday, before temperatures drop into the mid-80s by Sunday, but humidity is set to last well into next week, the representative said.
