SANTA?: “What were the lights in the sky last night, Dec. 12, at about 5:45 p.m.? We were in the barn, looked out and saw what we first thought were landing lights from a big plane that appeared to be heading from Eldred direction towards our location up Oil Valley Road.”
“It started as two big bright lights, then four, then more. But as they increased in number and seemed to also increase in intensity and size, the lights seemed to roll and tumble off towards the Eldred or Port Allegany area.
“We were wondering if anyone else saw them, and what caused this — something entering the atmosphere and burning up? There was no noise that we could here associated with the lights.
“Maybe it was Santa and the reindeer getting their practice run in for Christmas eve night.”
That’s the word today from Cheryl of Duke Center.
We would tend to agree with her assessment because a normal UFO would never have lights that would “roll or tumble,” and a shooting star appears only as a single streak of light.
Santa does often reportedly use that exact area to make practice runs — we’ve had readers comment consistently in past years — and it seems the only plausible conclusion to draw.
Anyone else out there see this unusual sight in the sky? If so, give us a call or drop us a line.
CLIP IT: If you’re traveling over the holidays — or any time during the winter — this is something you might want to keep handy.

PennDOT also urged motorists to always buckle up, avoid aggressive driving, take frequent breaks during long trips and pack an emergency travel kit.
“Motorists are also reminded that state law requires headlights to be turned on when wipers are in use, and vehicles must be cleared of snow and ice,” PennDOT added.
